Match Report for Lytchett Minster 2 Vs Weymouth 2 on 01 Mar 2008
Lytchett 2s Win Blustery Game
The second team were away to Weymouth on a very blustery day on arrival 28 Weymouth 2's players (good show chaps) were awaiting our presence and we knew a hard game was inevitable. Against the wind in the first half made the job even harder (cheers skipper). A scrappy game was evolving and after a while forward pressure from Lytchett produced a try from Ryan 'pit bull' Cairn who was 'Avin a cracker' at open side. With an inspired team selection strategy in place from the acting team manager the Fijian backs were next to score, linking beautifully together to create a wonderfully worked try through 'Comms' or possibly 'Wada' (Hard to tell). Weymouth then came back with immense pressure and finally our defence cracked on the line to allow the try.
At half time 'Forrest' made a 20 min return to the game after returning from a 'horrific' ankle injury his presence was felt immediately as Lytchett took full control of the line out and started to push the Weymouth scrum all over the park with great control at 8 (can you guess who wrote this yet). A further 2 Lytchett try's were disallowed from the forwards and had Hooky not taken the ball from 8's feet at the pushover a certain try would have been scored (you idiot). Forward pressure resulted in a try from some other insignificant forward a bit later on.
After 'Forrest' returned to the bench Oz Goldchain came back on and had obviously been inspired by his predecessors performance carrying on the 'Legends' work. The angel 'big ears Gabriel broke through what seemed to be the whole Weymouth side to score the final try and the game was won 24-5 to Lytchett. Well done lads
Man of the match was tee total Ryan who who admirably drank his Coke very quickly. Drinking Ryan's alcohol and his 1st ever Guinness was the Angel big ears Gabriel who seemed very thirsty.
Hopefully as none of the new 'Lytchett selection committee' turned up (poor show). The team will stay the same for the next victory.
On the journey home Graham and George were serenaded with beautifully harmonised Fijian rugby songs. They replied with an equally enchanting version of 'Alluette' which went down like a lead balloon. Thankfully some common ground was found when the good old camper van classic 'Kum bye arhhhhgggggg my lord' was sung heartily by all.
Please note: any mention of the name Forrest may have been blown out of all proportion as was his prerogative as reporter.
