Match Report for Lytchett Minster 2 Vs Verwood 1 on 03 Dec 2011
Well, unfortunately this game did not go as planned…I might have built the importance of the game up too much before kick off, and spoilt the natural vibrations and rythm of the 2nds. If so I will apologise, and learn from it that we must just play our natural game and let things flow as they do, but especially to enjoy what we are doing.
As for the game itself, we can just put that down to a bad day at the office. However, we did show that we can put pressure on any side. The stats must show that we did have territorial advantage. A few lapses of concentration here and there cost us. The pack, at times were very dominating with their mauling ability to drive the Verwood pack back at a rate of knots. There were 2 tries disallowed by the ref, and I’m sure that if a video ref was available then these would have surely been given.
The back line again showed good promise. They were well lead by Gareth at 10 and the skipper Andy Baldry at inside centre who was well backed up by Jack. Ball handling was good at times, but there were also a few badly flung balls. All the wingers had a good game, and got themselves involved within the game which was great to see.
Man of the match was given to Higgy for his shear dogged determination around the park. Well done.
Thanks to all that took part. Especially to those that did all the rolling on & off the park. We now have a week off, then back at home to New Milton 2nds.
Man of the match – Gary Higson
