Match Report for Lytchett Minster 2 Vs Poole on 26 Jan 2008

A Game of 2 Halves

Lytchett Minster travelled the short distance to Turlin Moor to play Po in the league at the weekend and came away with another very deserved league win, running out winners 0 – 21.

The first half was a strange affair with Lytchett’s forwards stamping their authority on the game. However, the forward pressure did not pay the rewards that Lytchett were hoping for and at half time Lytchett had only amassed a single penalty to the score sheet. The half time score being 0 – 3.

The second half was a completely different game, as Lytchett let lose their new Fijian backs who proved to be unstoppable. First to score was Shratibah with a powerful run from 30 yards out, evading 2 diving tacklers. Scott Ricketts added the conversion and 2 further penalties before Dan Holderness and Komaiyasa (Koms) set the game alight. From deep in his own half Dan Holderness went on a typical jinking run, but when he was eventually stop Koms was on his shoulder to power home under the posts. Ricketts missed the conversion, but the game had been put beyond doubt, with Lytchett Minster winning 0 – 21.

This win has put Lytchett Minster in forth place in the league, however, by winning their 2 games that they have in hand over each of the 3 teams above them, Lytchett will be sitting in first place. There is lots of rugby still to be played in Dorset & Wilts 3 South this year………and it’s going to go to the wire.

This coming week, the postponed league fixture against Puddletown II is to be played. It’s sure to be a great match.

See you at Lytchett Minster for a 14:30 KO, then into the bar to watch England beat Wales.
