Lytchett Minster II Pull Away From Chasing Pack and Take Second Position
Lytchett Minster hosted Dorchester III at the weekend knowing that a win would keep them clear of the chasing pack, led by local rivals Poole, Puddletown and Bridport.
Lytchett Minster put up a valiant display, scoring 70 unanswered points with 11 trys. This win has meant that Lytchett have now taken second spot in Dorset and Wilts 3 South league.
5 tries were scored in the first half by Fooks (x 2), Jonny English, Colin 'The Flying Scotsman' Graddy and Poolie. Fooks converted the 2 conversions that he attempted, while Oz Goldchain missed the remainder and the half time score was 29 – 0.
Lytchett accelerated away in the second half scoring a further 6 tries, 2 more for Fooks and Poolie, a further try for Graddy and 1 for Ian Poutney. Fooks converted 1 try and penalty and Graham Marine kicked 3 conversions, making the second half total 41 – 0. This secured a massive win 70 – 0 and has allowed the II team to move into second spot in the league on points difference.
Hero of the day was Fooks, scoring 4 tries and following on from his 3 last Saturday, this must surely take him to top scorer in the club.
Gwillym Poole must also get a mention, moving from hooker to flanker and scoring 3 tries.
