Match Report for Lytchett Minster 2 Vs Blandford 2 on 11 Feb 2006

Aaran Snipes To Lytchett Win

Lytchett Minster II hosted Blandford II at the weekend and in a hard fought match Lytchett were victorious 21 –12.

Blandford started the brighter of the 2 sides and were 5 points up on 5 minutes when the Blandford pack rampaged forward and scored in the corner. This set the screen for much of the first half, until Aaron Bellamy, the Lytchett scrum half, urged his own forwards to compete. This saw the Lytchett forwards driving down the field and Bellamy was at hand to power over from 5 yards out. Oz Goldchain stepped up to convert the try and Lytchett were back in the lead at half time, 7 – 5.

Blandford scored within 2 minutes of the second half starting, when Angus Shaggy, playing in the centre, smashed back on an unstoppable line to score under the posts. Blandford were again in the lead 12 – 7. Lytchett applied pressure and were rewarded with excellent field position and from here Aaran Bellamy sniped around the blind side of the scrum, where he found some space, sold a dummy to the winger and ghosted in for his second of the match. Again, Oz Goldchain was on hand to convert the try and restore Lytchett’s lead, 14 – 12.

This led to a tense period of the game, with both sides attacking hard, but it was ‘Man of the Match’ Aaran Bellamy who had the final say when he followed centre Daryl Cormack through a gap and was on hand to score his third of the match. The ever reliable Oz Goldchain converted the try and Lytchett had won the match 21- 12.
