Lytchett 1st Lose Tight Game
With the pressure the league put on hold for a week, Lytchett Minster hosted Weymouth in a friendly. Both sides were well supported and this seemed to spur them on.
Weymouth scored first, when they were awarded a penalty try and this was converted. Oz Goldchain kept Lytchett in the match with 2 converted penalties for the home team. However, Weymouth scored a great try just before half time, when their backs were set free and the winger dived in at the corner. The conversion was missed, so the score at half time was 12 - 6 to the away side.
Both sides threw caution to the wind in the second half and attacked from the off. Weymouth prop Yogi scored a powerful try when he took 2 Lytchett players over the line with him. The conversion was missed, leaving the score at 17 - 6.
As Lytchett progressed up the field they were awarded a penalty, which Oz Goldchain duly converted, reducing the deficit to 8 points.
The try of the match came when Weymouth put some pressure on the Lytchett scrum and the ball came shooting out the back directly to the Lytchett stand-off Scot Ricketts, who dummied outside and beat the back row defence. Scot then proceeded to sprit 60 metre to score under the posts. Oz Goldchain converted the try and the score was 17 - 16.
The last ten minutes were nail biting, but neither side managed another score, with Weymouth hanging on for a narrow victory.
