Match Report for Lytchett Minster 1 Vs Stoneham on 08 Oct 2005

Gwillym Continues to Score

Lytchett Minster hosted Stoneham for the first time in the clubs 25 year history and it was smiles all round for the major men by the end of the day, with Lytchett running in 6 unanswered tries to record their first Hampshire Division III league win.

Conditions could not have been any worse, as the heavens opened for the start of the match. Lytchett applied the first pressure and scored after 5 minutes with Daryl Cormack diving into the corner to score the first points. The wind was very strong and made it nearly impossible for both sides to kick for goal and as a consequence no points were scored from the boot. Hooker, Gwillym Poole, was then on hand to finish off a fantastic forward play, which saw Lytchett power through from the 10 meter line to score under the posts. Just before half time centre Chris Strudwick made the score 15 - 0, when he danced through the Stoneham defence.

The second half was very similar to the first, with Lytchett having the majority of the play. Winger Jules Andrews and blind side Ozzy Goldchain both scored, before hooker, Gwillym Poole, claimed a try from the bottom of a maul. This was the hookers forth try of the season and put him top try scorer for the team at the moment.

The final score was Lytchett Minster 30 Stoneham 0.
