Match Report for Lytchett Minster 1 Vs Puddletown on 20 Jan 2007

Lytchett Minster Beat Local Rivals

Lytchett Minster hosted local rivals Puddletown at the weekend and in exceptionally blustery condition, the Manor Men managed to hold on for a win, 9 – 5.

The wind ensured that the game was split into 2 halves, with Lytchett having the run of the play in the first half and Puddletown fighting back in the second.

The first half was completely played in the Puddletown 22, with the wind aiding the powerful Lytchett forwards to gain good field position. Despite having all of the possession Lytchett could only manage 9 points for the half, all coming from the boot of stand-off Harry Boulter, who kicked 3 penalties, one from 45 meters.

The second half was again played in exactly the same part of the field, however, Puddletown were the team applying the pressure. Lytchett Mister managed to hold out for 30 minutes, but eventually Puddletown found a way through, when their forwards drive over from short range. The kick was missed and the final score was 9 – 5.

The game was not for the purest, but if you appreciate good, hard forward rucking and mauling, then it was a competitive game worth watching.

Man of the match was awarded to Harry Boulter. He can definitely kick better than he can drink!!!
