Another Loss Leaves Lytchett Desperate For a Win


Lytchett Minster hosted second in the table Nomads at the weekend. Lytchett Park was full with people to watch this encounter, knowing that Lytchett were desperate for a win.

The game was hard, with both sides standing their ground. Nomads scored after twenty minutes, when some lack blindside tackling by Lytchett saw the Nomads winger dive into the corner. The try was converted. Nomads scored again before half time, when they mounted another blindside attack. This time the back row combined and their centre rounded off the move. Again, the try was converted, leaving Lytchett trailing 14 - 0 at half time.

Lytchett did not give up and came charging out of the blokes for the second half. Inspired by stand-off and captain Tom Dilon Lytchett started to believe in themselves. Following four or five passages of play Lytchett eventually managed to cross the Nomads line, with Tom Dilon emerging from the bottom of a pile of players having scored. The conversion was missed, back Lytchett were back in the match, 5 - 14.

The Lytchett revival did not last long and in the final ten minutes Nomads scored a further two tries, one of which was converted. The final score was 5 - 26, but this score did not reflect the determination showed by the Lytchett team.

With only three league games remaining in this years campaign, Lytchett must get some points from either Ellingham or Fleet away or their home match against bottom of the table Kingsclere, to ensure Hampshire division 2 survival.
