The game started with Lytchett Minster attacking in Nomads half for the first 5 minutes. Nomads eventually broke away and with a number of penalties being conceded that led them to within kicking distance of our posts. Nomads took a kick of another penalty and scored the first points of the game. Nomads played a tight game of rugby and were rewarded with a couple of tries in the first half.

Lytchett sparked and attacked through the centre with aggressive runs and support from Pete Maritz, James Simms and all the forwards. This allowed Harry Boulter to score 2 tries and kick 1 conversion. Nomad’s discipline let them down and their number 6 received a yellow card but Lytchett were unable to use this to their advantage.

Lytchett Minster’s pack was solid and won all of their scrums and several of Nomads. The front 5 had their best scrumaging to date that can only get better with time and training together on a weekly basis. Toby Cull claimed all the high restarts and presented the ball, allowing a platform for Lytchett’s next attack. The backs had been supported with Graham Oliver at number 12 who had helped out at the last minute due to players not turning up.

Scott Ricketts who was full back had made several long distance runs from our 22 was rewarded on the 38th minute with a try that Harry converted. Half time score: Lytchett Minster 17 vs Nomads 17.

With the game tied at half time Lytchett Minster needed to up their game straight from the kick off. This did not happen, as it was Nomads who came out fighting and who soon scored their 3rd and 4th try.

Changes were made and Matt Deary who had been playing vets that morning came on for Darren Mason. Soon after Kiefer Lamb replaced Matt Collett.

Lytchett came back fighting in the last 10 minutes and with continuous penalties on Nomads 5 yard line, Wayne Hansell scored Lytchetts 4th try that Harry converted. A quick kick off was taken and the attack continued with Matt Sprague breaking through Nomads defensive line, up to there 22. A lineout was formed which was won by Matt Sprague but the referee blew his whistle to end the game as he deemed the ball had been knocked on.

A big thanks to Graham Oliver, Matt Deary and Kiefer Lamb who all came at short notice to help their club and fellow players out.
