Match Report for Lytchett Minster 1 Vs Millbrook on 01 Mar 2008

Lytchett Minster hosted Millbrook in a battle of mid table obscurity at the weekend and ran out winners 45 - 21.

The travelling side started the brighter of the 2 teams and were on the score sheet within the first 5 minutes with a powerful scrum from close range, which the Millbrook 8 scored from. The try was converted and Lytchett found themselves down by 0 - 7. Pretty much from the resulting kick-off Millbrook found themselves on the Lytchett line, but this time the ball was knocked on, which was a luck escape for the Manor Men.

Lytchett then rallied with centre Les Mooney powering over from the 22 yard line. Stand-off Harry Boulter missed the conversion. Millbrook score a penal to further extend their lead to 5 - 10. The Fijian centre Semesa 'Roko' Rokoduguni and winger Keasi 'Kola' Buakola were next to get into the scoring action, when they neatly combined in centre field and Roko outstripped the defence to run in from 45 yards. Boulter converted, making the score 12 - 10 and Lytchett were back in the match. Next Kola found some space outwide and sprinted in from 50 yards. Again Boulter converted, increasing the score to 19 - 10. Millbrook kept battling and were rewarded with a penalty that was kicked. But the Fijian factor combined again to score the try of the match, where Roko and powered through to create space for his countryman and Kola finished off the move. Boulter missed the kick and the score was 24 - 13. Millbrook kicked another penalty before half time, leaving the score 24 - 16 with 40 minutes still to play.

Just after half time, the ROKO showed power and pace to smash his way straight up the middle of the field to touch down. Boulter converted and the score was 31 - 16. The Lytchett forward then put together a move that saw the constantly pick and drive and eventually hooker Rickie Steel and open side Ben Smith went crashing over the line to score the first try of the match for the Lytchett forwards. Boulter converted, leaving Lytchett home and dry, 38 - 21. However, Millbrook were still battling on and were rewarded for their persistence when their winger scored a try in the corner, increasing their score to 38 - 21. But Lytchett had the final say, when Harry Boulter started and finished a marvellous move that just finished off an outstanding performance form the Lytchett backs. Boulter converted his own try and the final score was 45 - 21.

This was Lytchett's 7th win in a row, 4 of those wins in the league. The questions being asked is 'Can Lytchett go the rest of the season without losing?' And from what I've seen recently, that is entirely possible, even probable!!!
