Fordingbridge Fight For Win


Lytchett Minster travelled to Hampshire division II rivals Fordingbridge at the weekend, determined to end a two game losing streak. But from the kick-off Fordingbridge were the team doing all the attacking and were rewarded with a penalty, which was converted. The travelling manor men put up a strong defence and were only breached late in the first half when the Fordingbridge captain and second row crashed over from close range. The try was unconverted and the score at half time was 8 - 0 to Fordingbridge.

Lytchett decided to play in the second half, but could not find a way through the hard tackling new forest team. Lytchett were awarded a penalty, following some strong running by the open side flanker Mat Hope. This was converted by Hope and Lytchett were back in the match. With only 5 points in it, both sides were very tense. Lytchett through everything they had at Fordingbridge, but the forest men held on to clinch a desired victory, 8 - 3.
