Lytchett Minster vs Eastleigh

On a glorious September afternoon, newly promoted Lytchett Mister played their first home league game of the season against Eastleigh in Hampshire league division 2. Despite Eastleigh being relegated last term, they fielded a very strong side and came out eventual winners 23 – 3.

The first half was very tight, with both sides playing well. However, the only points to be scored in the half were an exchange of penalties. Lytchett Minster did score a break away try through hooker Gwillym Poole, only for the play to be played back for a forward pass. The half time score was 3 – 3.

The second half was a different story, with Eastleigh applying strong pressure, which eventually told and tries 3 tries and 2 penalties were scored. The final score being 23 – 3.

The final score flattered the Eastleigh team, as Lytchett Minster had shown a strong defence and desire to attack, but this was only the first game of a long season……..lets see how it all pans out.
