Match Report - Lytchett II vs Swans
Lytchett Minster II 20 – Swanage and Wareham IV 8
The weather was absolutely atrocious at the weekend, when Swans IV’s made the short journey to Watery Lane to face Lytchett Minster 2nd team. Lytchett knew that a win today would put them in with a chance of promotion when they face Oakmedians II on the 12th April.
Lytchett were first to score on 10 minutes when centre Laisiasa ‘Vinnie’ Vinakadina out stripped the Swans defence to score from 60 meters. Stand off Harry Boulter missed the conversion, in the howling gale. However, Boulter soon made up for his mistake when he slotted a way taken penalty over from 40 yards, increasing the Lytchett lead to 8 – 0. Swans fought back and were rewarded with a penalty of their own, which was converted and the half time score was 8 – 3.
Lytchett Minster were playing with the wind in the second half and kept Swans pinned in their own half and mounted their own attacks from deep. Centre Keasi ‘Kula’ Buakula scored the next try for Lytchett, which rivalled Vinny’s first half effort. Kula broke the swans line from deep and proceed to run the length of the field, but the Swans defence pushed Kula wide and he eventually scored in the corner. Boulter missed the conversion from out wide, but the lead had been increased to 13 – 3.
Swans battle back again and scored a try of their own following sustained forward pressure. The conversion was missed, but the score line had been reduced to 13 – 8 and Swans were back in the match. Lytchett finished off the game with 10 minutes to go when Kula cut through the Swans centre again and despite the wind, off loaded a perfect 25 yard pass to the flying fullback Scott Ricketts, who scored under the posts. Boulter added to extra 2 points and Lytchett were victorious, 20 – 8.
Bring on Oakmedians and promotion!!!
